Levantine Arabic

Levantine Arabic is a group of mutually intelligible Arabic dialects spoken around the east coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

It can be divided into North Levantine (Lebanon, Syria, part of Turkey) and South Levantine (Israel, Palestina, Jordan) dialects.

This website focuses on the urban Palestinian and Jordanian dialect (especially Jerusalem and Amman).

Lebanese variants of common words are also shown, if different from Palestinian/Jordanian.

The orthography is kept close to Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).
