Grammar: Modal verbs
There are no real modal verbs in Arabic, but modality is expressed by different types of words, followed by the main verb in imperfect form (without b-prefix).

Adverbs are not conjugated, but remain unchanged.
The past and future tense are formed by using the verb
lāzem 'arūḥ | I must go / I have to go | |
kān lāzem 'arūḥ | I had to go | |
بِكُونْ لَازِمْ أَرُوح بكون لازم أروح | rαḥ lāzem 'arūḥ bikūn lāzem 'arūḥ | I will have to go |
