Grammar: Modal verbs

There are no real modal verbs in Arabic, but modality is expressed by different types of words, followed by the main verb in imperfect form (without b-prefix).

Adverbs🠉

Adverbs are not conjugated, but remain unchanged.

The past and future tense are formed by using the verb كان (to be) and the future particle رح.

لَازِمْ أَرُوحلازم أروحlāzem 'arūI must go / I have to go
كَانْ لَازِمْ أَرُوحكان لازم أروحkān lāzem 'arūI had to go
رَحْ لَازِمْ أَرُوح
بِكُونْ لَازِمْ أَرُوح
رح لازم أروح
بكون لازم أروح
rαḥ lāzem 'arū
